Anonymous asked: Alex Toth is a dead legend, so his views are something to note. Toth's notes on Steve Rude are a great insider read on what comic artists shouldn't do but still do, so you should check it out. But this other anon is onto something. Maybe you should've titled your posts "Top 50 Favorite Modern Comic Artists."

Anonymous asked: I mean to be honest and not scathing on your top 50 modern comic artists. You have spot on choices but for Darwyn Cooke, Sean Murphy, and Frazier Irving, you have Jim Lee (Check out Aquaman's trident throwing arm on the cover of JL 5) and Travel Foreman who Alex Toth would shred worse than he did to Steve Rude. You do have a lot of good artists, but some choices seem to be coming from recent...

What happened :| This dude in one of those trucks that holds a lot of cars on it was coming up behind me, and I was trying to get in front of him, and he didn’t see me beside him and tried to merge over to my lane, thus sending me on a wild ride amounting to at least a 540 degree spin.

Guess who was in a huge car wreck!
THIS GUY! So the trip to Dallas is cancelled and Meghan is coming here instead, my car is probably totaled, but I exited that vehicle like Ryan Gosling in “Drive”; with a purpose, and without a scratch. Anyway, I’m home now, about to eat something and getting settled down from all the nerves and excitement… but on the plus side I got to call a towtruck guy a fuckwad...

Leaving for Dallas in like an hour, and I’ll be back on Tuesday, but then I have to go directly to work, so I won’t be blogging again until like… Wednesday.  This is essentially another hiatus warning. I was hoping to finish my 50 artists, but I have 13 left, still.

While on the topic of Tony Moore and Venom, the latest arc on that series is seriously amazing. Like, Venom’s been pretty good thus far, but Remender is finally taking it up to 11 with this most recent arc. Tony Moore’s only doing the covers, though. Lan Medina is the interior artists on that one at the moment.

For a quick and easy laugh, take a movie title that has a verb in it, and then replace that verb with a form of the word “fuck”.  Works for most movies.

Best Comics of 2011: Various Categories
populationgo: 2011 was a pretty big year for comics. Most of it was DC’s whole relaunch, but we also had a good share of awesome stuff from Marvel, Image, Dark Horse, and everyone else. All of that said, it’s a bit hard for me to narrow this down to a single “best of 2011” item, so I’ll be doing this as a series of five categories with one winner and four runners-up.  Best Writer Best Art...

Come home to see someone has reblogged one of my top 50 artists posts just to tell me that I’m sexist because none of them are women. And on top of that, preach about the fact that there MUST not be any great female comic artists out there because MY list of favorites happens to not yet include any women on it.  I mean, it doesn’t matter that I judge them on the merit of their work,...

Issue #19, which just came out, was an epilogue to the previous arc and led into a new arc starting in #20, so you can easily grab either of those, and then the previous 18 issues are collected...
