Uncanny X-Force #25-28 covers by Jerome Opeña

Guys, the solicits for Uncanny X-Force in July have been fixed. No worries:

UNCANNY X-FORCE #27 & 28

RICK REMENDER (w) Issue #27 - PHIL NOTO (a) Issue #28 - JULIAN TOTINO TEDESCO (a) CoverS by JEROME OPEÑA

X-Force land themselves somewhere you’ve never seen them. A new member joins the team! Rising star Julian Totino Tedesco (VENOM: CIRCLE OF FOUR, JOHN CARTER GODS OF MARS covers) joins the best creative team in comics for two issues!

So no, DnA aren’t raking over for two issues, and no, those covers weren’t by John Christopher Tyler. Remender is writing as usual, Opena is doing the covers, and we have PHIL NOTO for another issue!

Next Week’s New Comics Preview

This week had sixteen issues for me, but next week’s a bit smaller, but still brings a bunch of collections I’d like to grab. Here’s what I’m getting:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #684 (Part 3 of Ends of the Earth)
  • Batman #8 (Prelude to Night of the Owls)
  • Fables #116
  • Incredible Hulk #7 (Finale to Hulk VS Banner)
  • Invincible Iron Man #515
  • Punisher #10 (Part 2 of Omega Effect)
  • Thunderbolts #173
  • Uncanny X-Force #24 (Phil Noto penned aftermath to “Otherworld”; UXF VS AoA Ice Man)
  • Venom #16
  • The Walking Dead #96 (Finale to A Larger World)
  • Wolverine and the X-Men #9 (Avengers VS X-Men tie-in)
  • Wonder Woman #8

So there’s sure to be a lot of great stuff among next weeks lot. Here’s some collections to look out for:

  • Batman: Venom - This tale features Bruce taking the Venom that his foe Bane will later use in order to increase his ow n strength after an event happens that shows him he might not be strong enough to save everyone. The Venom has a side-effect similar to steroids, but much more extreme, and Bruce locks himself up for months as a form of Detox. It’s a classic Batman story that kind of leads into Bane’s stuff, so there’s no wonder they’re re-releasing it a few months before the upcoming film.
  • Fear Agent Volume 6: Out of Step - The final volume of Rick Remender’s latest creator owned series. I’ve just gotten the previous five so I can’t say much here, but I love Remender and look forward to reading this when I finish everything else I’ve got.
  • Gantz 22 - This isn’t really one to look out for, just one I need to pick up. But if you like violent sci-fi stuff Gantz might be worth checking out.
  • Red Hulk: Hulk of Arabia - Jeff Parker’s Hulk series has been one of the best on the stands ever since he took over from Jeph Loeb. He’s really turned the character of the Red Hulk into a relatable on, and not just a violent monster like you’d assume he is. He’s also introduced a whole gallery of new rogues for him, and in this volume a lot of what’s come before comes to a head as Red Hulk faces several threats. I can’t wait to read this one, and anyone who hasn’t checked out Parker’s Hulk should really do so.

Here’s next week’s full shipping list

Marvel Comics in March 2012

Let’s take a look at everything I’ll be picking up from Marvel this month! First the singles that are part of my pull:

  • Amazing Spider-Man #681-682
  • Captain America #9
  • Daredevil #10
  • Fantastic Four #604
  • Incredible Hulk #6
  • Invincible Iron Man #514
  • Journey into Mystery #635
  • Moon Knight #11
  • Punisher #9
  • Secret Avengers #24
  • Thunderbolts #171
  • Uncanny X-Force #23
  • Uncanny X-Men #8-9
  • Venom #14
  • Winter Soldier #3
  • Wolverine #302-303
  • Wolverine and the X-Men #7

So aside from these 20 issues from 17 different series I might check out Age of Apocalypse #1 as well and I’ll probably download Avengers Vs. X-Men #0.

Here’s a look at the collected editions I’d like to grad:

  • Avengers: The Children’s Crusade
  • X-Men: Season One (McKelvie’s art sells it)
  • Ultimate Comics X-Men (I MIGHT get this, and it also might not be out until April. Not sure)
  • ELektra by Greg Rucka Ultimate Collection (It’s Rucka…)

So that’s everything for me from Marvel. There might be other trades or hardcovers I’m unaware of, but here’s my tentative list.

Ryley’s Pull List 2/22/12 - Marvel Comics

  • Fantastic Four #603 - Forever continues, and it’s not looking very good for anyone, really. Galactus is back and he’s ready to duke it out with the Celestials. Meanwhile the Future Foundation is making a return to the pages of Fantastic Four!
  • Secret Avengers #23 - After the Secret Avengers started their new mission (and the book started it’s new direction) in the last issue, this issue we see the inclusion of a new member; Flash Thompson. This is surely an aftereffect of the Circle of Four arc happening in Venom at the moment, but in the meantime we can just enjoy the inclusion of an awesome character into an awesome book. Check out the previous issue on the book to see Rick Remender work his magic on yet another Marvel title!
  • Uncanny X-Force #22 - The trial of Fantomex continues… and there are dragons! Fantomex is incapacitated and Psylock is attempting to rescue him from the deleted by the Captain Britain Corps. Meanwhile the rest of the X-Force has enough to deal with as they’re stuck in the middle of a war in the Otherworld!
  • Venom #13.3 - Part four of Circle of Four has Jeff Parker stopping in to write an issue of the book with focus on the Red Hulk. How will Hulk, Ghost Rider, X-23, and Venom stop Hell from spreading across the earth and how will they defeat their own Antitheses?
  • Wolverine and the X-Men #6 - Kitty Pryde’s been infected by a miniature Brood swarm and Wolverine isn’t there to help her! Why? Because Intergalactic Gambling is apparently the best way to pay for the costs to run the Jean Grey School! This series has been more than great since it’s debut and there’s never a bad time to jump on, so read it now!
